BG348 Reducing water costs in paper and board mills

Cover image showing: BG348 Reducing water costs in paper and board mills

This Benchmarking Guide describes the results of surveys of water use in UK paper and board mills and highlights the benefits to mills of reducing water use. The surveys found variations in specific water consumption between mills in different sectors of the industry and in the costs of water supply and effluent discharge relative to production. The Guide explains how to calculate the true cost of water within a paper mill and describes what mills are doing to reduce water use. Industry examples from five mills demonstrate the cost and other benefits of taking action to reduce water use.
