Below are a few examples of how easy it is for your profits to evaporate through poor solvent management.

• Some print companies are losing 25% of solvents through poor solvent management, for example leaks and evaporation.
• Changes in temperature can result in significant losses of VOCs (and profit). For example, increasing and decreasing pressure cycles due to temperature fluctuations, on a 4m diameter tank, can result in losses of up to 500kg a year of volatile solvents such as acetone.
• A leaky pipe could lose as much as 2.5 tonnes of solvent a year.
• In chemical plants, up to 300kg a year of solvents can be lost through a badly maintained pump seal.
