A Scottish Borders based printing company is reaping the financial benefits of improved resource efficiency after working with Envirowise.
Buccleuch Printers approached Envirowise for assistance in reducing their business costs and impact on the local environment. What followed was a free, confidential, on-site ‘FastTrack’ waste review. This visit* sees Envirowise advisors working with companies to produce a tailored waste minimisation plan, including savings targets, suggested actions on how to consume fewer resources and advice on legislation.
Kieron Rafferty, Integrated Systems Manager, Buccleuch Printers Ltd. said: “We approached Envirowise as we are currently looking at achieving ISO14001:2004 certification and we wanted to show our corporate social responsibility by looking at costs across our business and environmental implications. Drawing on Envirowise’s technical knowledge and onsite visit, we were able to address these issues and build effective measures into our management programmes going forward.”
Following the Envirowise visit, Buccleuch Printers put in place procedures for waste reduction and processing, and as a result are looking at potential savings of £67,400.

Learn about the business benefits of reducing waste, access a range of publications, best practice guides and case studies and find out about the environmental legislation affecting businesses today.
4. Arrange an Envirowise onsite resource efficiency review
As well as Fasttrack visits Envirowise also offers companies designtrack reviews, which involve an on-site face to face visit to identify cleaner design improvement opportunities in the design of a specified product. To arrange a review either visit the Envirowise website or call the Advice Line.
