This Wednesday (21st February) offices across the South West are invited to take part in One Bin Day – a campaign which urges companies to remove all except one bin from the workplace, for the full working day.
The experiment is designed to get the region's 1.7 million-plus office workers to re-think the way they deal with waste.
Information on how to get involved is available at the One bin day page where companies are also encouraged to participate in an online forum.
Paul Gilbert, Envirowise Regional Manager for the South West, says: "We see this event as a way for local companies to jump-start a whole range of environmental activities in the workplace – generating valuable cost savings for their business in the process."
Colour Works, a print and design company based in Totnes is taking part on Wednesday. Managing Director, Paul Hall, says: "Taking part in One Bin Day is a way for us to raise awareness of environmental issues right across the workplace and get the whole team involved. We hope it will encourage everyone to re-assess how they dispose of office waste in particular. If people are faced with the visual impact of the waste they generate, the incentive to either recycle or ideally reduce their waste is bound to be increased."
