This Action Profile outlines the benefits to B&W Loudspeakers of applying cleaner design techniques, as a result of a designtrack visit*, for the redesign of electronic equipment to comply with the forthcoming Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and Restriction of Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directives. The benefits include a reduction in secondary packaging of 50%, saving over £150,000/year, and the elimination of lead in PCBs and cadmium in speaker driver units.
