CS619 Process improvement at catering supplier slashes production costs
This Case Study demonstrates how Devon-based catering supplier Pasta King made reducing waste a fundamental element of the recent rethink of its main production process. Changes to supply packaging and investment in new equipment have increased efficiency and reduced raw material and product wastage. The benefits to Pasta King of its process improvement programme include: cost savings of over £120,800/year despite a 49% increase in production; a reduction in unit production costs of 33%; diversion of over 139 tonnes of waste from landfill in 2005; and development of key performance indicators (KPIs) to quantify improvements.
