CS706 Pharmaceutical company cuts costs through a behavioural programme

This Action Profile outlines the award-winning resource efficiency approach taken by AstraZeneca's Cheshire sites to minimise waste and reduce energy consumption. The principal mechanism was a behavioural programme to directly engage employees. The benefits to AstraZeneca include: total waste reduction of 11% across the sites; a 5% increase in recycling rates; estimated waste disposal savings of over £69,000; and CO2 reduced by 3,000 tonnes.
