In this issue we answer your queries about resource efficiency clubs:
Q: What type of funding is available?
A: The Resource Efficiency Clubs Programme provides funding for two types of activity:
Feasibility Studies - to investigate the potential for a club in a region and to identify potential partners and club members. Funding of around £5k – £8k (ex VAT) is available
for feasibility studies plus a sum equal to VAT chargeable if the company is VAT registered;
Access Payments - Funding for new or existing clubs for access by Envirowise to company baseline data and savings. A minimum of eight new companies per club is required. The
access payments are in the region of £30k (ex VAT) per year but may be up to £50k (ex VAT) in exceptional cases. A sum equal to VAT chargeable is also included if the company is
VAT registered.
Q: What is the process for making applications?
A: For both types of applications, we strongly advise that you contact the Resource Efficiency Club Programme team or your Envirowise Regional Manager through the Envirowise Advice Line on 0800 585794. We will be happy to help. For application guidance click here. To send your application by email click here. Once the application has been approved, we will send a contract to the lead organisation for the club.
Q: Do all the savings have to be made within a year?
A: The funding available for clubs is initially for one year. However, you are not expected to achieve the savings within that first year – we would suggest that savings are made within one year after the first year of funding ends. You are welcome to include an outline for funding for subsequent years but you will need to make another application in due course. Potential savings will need to be at least five times the total expenditure from the programme.
