Scottish food and drink companies are taking part in an important survey to address
general resource efficiency and cost savings within the industry.
Envirowise and the Scottish Food Chain Group are working together to combine the
Food Chain Groups’ sector knowledge with Envirowise’s resource efficiency know-how.
The Scottish Food Chain Group consists of representatives from the
Envirowise will be conducting research with businesses in the food and drink industry
and will be looking to map key wastes in areas such as
Caroline Wood, Food and Drink Sector Manager for
Envirowise in Scotland said:
"The Scottish food and drink industry, whilst a major contributor to the Scottish
economy, is also a large waste producer. This is an often ignored part of the food
chain process but it is an area that is costing Scottish companies thousands of
pounds every year."
"Envirowise and the Scottish Food Group Chain are committed to developing a strategy for presenting the best possible advice and this survey aims to map the waste streams with an aim of finding solutions. By providing your company information, you will be helping us to generate sector knowledge. This knowledge will become the foundation upon which highly specific advice and support can be delivered to address resource efficiency issues and identify cost savings that can be made through managing waste."
