... managed efficiently

The Big Splash has been very well received in Scotland, too. At the end of March there were 92 separate organisations registered with us, covering 102 sites. 87 site visits have so far been carried out, identifying a potential savings total of £1.86 million.

One excellent example of water efficiency in action is at the University of Glasgow, now available as a case study to download. This shows how the University saved nearly 1/2 a million pounds with a long-term water minimisation campaign. Cumulative water/effluent savings of over 329 700m3 were made through right sizing meters and reducing water use by domestic applications, science departments and building services. A visit* from an Envirowise advisor provided the impetus for further savings.

Albert Young, Energy Conservation Officer at the University was delighted by Envirowise's service: "The advisor's visit, as part of the Big Splash initiative, really highlighted the potential savings on our wastewater allowance and has set the agenda for this year's programme."
