... and Scottish engineering succeeds

In Scotland, Envirowise focused on engineering companies and their supply chains. We've identified over half a million pounds of potential savings through site visits* that have focused on improving water efficiency, effluent reduction and resource efficiency.

In an award ceremony in May at the Annual Scottish Engineering Dinner, First Minister Jack McConnell presented Envirowise Awards for Environmental Excellence in Supply Chain Efficiency to three Scottish companies, recognising their outstanding contribution:

Commenting on the award, Drew Poulton, Plant Engineer for Terex, said,
"We have established a baseline and now plan to continue resource efficiency. The natural by product of this initiative is that we are contributing to a better environment.

The programme has also allowed us to pass on best practice to other companies. With help from Envirowise we were able to look at ourselves and our suppliers in terms of waste at source, and it has allowed each of us to put measures in place to reduce our waste and costs." Find out more.
