'Tis the season to be jolly - so don't miss your feed of free advice

A national event in February aims to provide delegates from the food, drink, hospitality and catering sectors with a one-stop-shop for free environmental advice.

Food Environmental Efficiency Day (FEED) 2008 will provide businesses with free advice, practical guidance and strategies for improving their environmental performance and making significant savings in the process.

Currently, food and drink businesses consume 14% of the energy and 10% of the water used by UK businesses and generate at least 10% (ten million tonnes) of the total waste produced in the UK*. The potential for businesses to improve resource use and save money is therefore very significant. However, the food, drink, hospitality and catering sector is very large and hugely diverse, so it may not always be easy for companies to know where to turn for tailored advice that can help them address the particular challenges that their businesses face. FEED 2008 provides a forum for this diverse group to come together and hear about ways they can improve business performance and help the environment.
