Envirowise is soon to launch a free, easy-to-use web-based tool that will give an indication of the environmental impact of packaging designs. It will also compare designs to help decide which one has the least environmental impact and how this could be improved further.
The tool, piloted by Mars Snackfoods, is generating substantial interest in it's testing stages. Matt Boulter, of the European Packaging Sustainability team at Mars said:
"Mars is fundamentally committed to sustainability and we needed an effective tool with the right level of detail to use when considering a new packaging design or re-design. This tool, designed by Envirowise, has proved extremely useful in our product development process here at Mars Snackfood."
