As a guide to what you should be measuring, take the KEPI’s (Key Environmental Performance Indicators) as a guide:
- water use, eg cubic metres of water used per tonne of product manufactured;
- material use, eg tonne of packaging used per item manufactured;
- generation of waste, eg kg of waste disposed of per item manufactured;
- carbon emissions, eg tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted per tonne of product manufactured
