During November 2007 business leaders from across Wales came together for HRH The Prince of Wales's Business Summit on Climate Change.
The importance of tackling climate change was recognised by the majority of participants and many felt that business can have a significant influence on reducing the impacts of climate change. Tackling this challenge was seen as an opportunity for businesses to improve the bottom line through reducing energy costs and gaining a competitive edge through innovation, new market opportunities and improved brand reputation.
Pledges to take action were made at the end of the event and these showed delegates were strongly committed to mobilising companies, employees, customers and suppliers on the climate change agenda, with the majority of those present committing to take some kind of action.
At the end of the Summit, delegates were asked which one thing would most help their business to take action on climate change. Expert advice, support and education about how to tackle climate change, as well as the sharing of best practice, were most frequently mentioned as ways in which companies could be best supported to act on this agenda. To ensure that the momentum from the Summit continues, Business In The Community and the partners of this event have come together to provide follow up support for delegate companies to deliver the pledges they made.
