Energy saving through re-use of water in the textile industry
- Abstract
- This case study at a textile company demonstrates the water and effluent treatment cost savings that can be achieved through the re-use of process water. Cost savings of around 10,000/year with a payback period of less than 12 months were achieved. Both raw water consumption and the quantity of effluent discharged to sewer were minimised. In addition, the company also reduced its energy consumption as the re-used process water is used to preheat incoming raw water in a heat exchanger. Overall savings were over 35,000/year with a payback period, of less than 5 months.
