- Irrigation is a valuable operation in modern crop production. This leaflet gives an insight into the processes which control water uptake and loss by plants, and reviews the various methods which can be used to plan irrigation application. The effective scheduling of irrigation is important as too early or too late application can result in water wastage and poor crop quality and yields, respectively.
