With increased governmental, regulatory, and stakeholder pressure, the environment agenda is a heightened priority for UK manufacturers, with many having already taken steps to reduce their impact on the environment.
To understand better what is happening in this area, EEF,together with Envirowise, has undertaken its first environment survey of its members. This was carried outbetween February and March 2008 and sought to answer the following key questions:
- What are the key environmental issues for companies and why?
- What are companies doing to address these?
- What do they expect to do in the future?
In total 562 responses were received, from companies covering 122,355 employees. A breakdown of respondents by size, sector and region is also included in this latest report.
The results from the report are supported by a series of five focus groups carried out during Spring 2008. These have provided an opportunity to tease out in more depth some of the themes in the survey.
The report sets out the overall findings and provides commentary and messages aimed at both policy makers and companies.
